From the East

Brethren;

Masonry is a progressive moral science, divided into different degrees."

These words are familiar to all masons as part of the charge from the second degree. Upon looking up the word PROGRESSIVE in the dictionary, I learned that it means: 1. Moving forward or onward. 2. Continuing by successive steps. 3. Marked by progress, reform, or a continuing improvement.
Does this mean that Masonry itself is ever changing and moving? I don't interpret it that way. Rather I believe it refers to the way we apply the lessons we are taught in Masonry.

It has become my habit to admonish each candidate, after a degree conferral, to study the lessons he was taught and to attend Lodge regularly to gain the benefits of Masonry. I doubt that the interpretation of the lessons of Freemasonry which are developed by a candidate at that time will be the same as when he is receiving his 25 year pin, or his 50 year pin as a Mason. In other words, Masonry does not change, but the way we apply it to our ever-changing lives does move forward or progress.

Masons, being of the human race, are not perfect. We make mistakes. We sometimes speak and act carelessly and hurtfully. In the Fraternity of Freemasonry however we can rely on our Brothers to come to our aid and whisper good counsel in our ear when we stray from our true coarse. In the terminology of the day, it's good to know that someone has got your back. Let all of us work together as we go about our busy lives to help each other become better men.

Congratulations to Bro. Jonathan Asis, Chairman, and his committee who put together a fantastic Filipiniana Night June 19th.

The dates for our Golf Tournament and camping trip are changing. As soon as we can confirm the dates, notification will be sent out.

Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
